Anita Marie Anderson, 71, of Warwick, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with Lymphoma. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on December 31, 1953 to the late John S. Anderson and Ruth Anita (McQueeney) Anderson.

Anita spent her early years in Belmont, Massachusetts, then Keene, VT. At age 7, Anita moved to Warwick, where she made her home for the remainder of her life. She graduated from Warwick Veterans Memorial High School in 1972 and went on to complete a Public Relations course at Patricia Stevens School in Boston, graduating in 1973.

Anita built a long and dedicated career, working for Traveler’s Insurance Company in Providence for 17 years and later for Sears in Warwick from 1990 until her retirement in 2005. She also held various part-time jobs over the years and was known for her strong work ethic and commitment. She loved to work; however, health challenges led to an early retirement.

Anita was a devoted daughter, partner, and friend. She loved her family deeply and was known for her kind, generous spirit, always putting others before herself. She especially loved the Christmas season and took great joy in sending out holiday cards, each with a thoughtful note to the many people whose lives she touched.

For more than 16 years, Anita shared her life with her longtime companion, Jim Swanson, whom she had known for over 30 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and friendship.

Anita will be remembered for her warm smile, her caring heart, and her unwavering love for those around her. Her compassion and kindness left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her.

In addition to her loving companion, James Leslie Swanson of Warwick, she is survived by many devoted cousins and friends.

The Family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Peter B. Rintels and his staff in Cranston, and Stella Moran and her staff at Kent Regency in Warwick, where Anita spent her final months. Their wonderful care and kindness brought great comfort to Anita and her loved ones during that time.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at 12Noon at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick. Visitation will be held prior to the Service from 10:00AM-12Noon. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Providence.
