To the Editor,
Democrats running for office can’t be honest about the economy. That’s because Democrat policies are killing the economy. If Democrats were to tell the truth they would have to admit as much.
Incumbent state Rep. Evan Shanley is no exception to this rule.
At a recent debate, Democrat Shanley offered a bogus explanation for the increased prices Rhode Islanders are having to pay for their gas and groceries. Sounding like White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, Shanley refused to acknowledge the real reason for this record inflationary spiral: Namely, Democrat Joe Biden. His administration, with its war on American fossil fuel production coupled with reckless government spending, is responsible for the economic mess we are in.
Mr. Shanley’s challenger, Independent candidate Dr. Jonathan Martin, addressed the detrimental economic effect of the renewable energy fixation being forced on us by President Biden. In less than two years, adherence to climate change alarmism has drastically lowered our standard of living. If left unchecked, it is going to get worse, with no real benefit to the environment.
Jonathan Martin was honest enough to point this out; Evan Shanley was not. I say shame on Shanley.
