George Buratczuk, age 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. He was the loving husband of the late Andrea Buratczuk. Born in Germany, he was the son of the late Mykola Buratczuk and Maria (Harasymenko) Buratczuk.

George is survived by his sons, Mark Buratczuk and his wife Terri, and Jason Buratczuk, as well as his stepchildren. He was a proud grandfather to Natalie and Jack Buratczuk. He also leaves behind his brother, Dymtryo Buratczuk, and was predeceased by his brother, Michael Buratczuk.

He was drafted into the United States Army, where he served honorably as a Combat Medic during the Vietnam War. During his time in service, he was awarded several medals, decorations, and commendations, including the Combat Medic Badge. After returning home to Rhode Island, George began a long career with the Pepsi-Cola Bottling in Cranston.

George loved the outdoors and spending time in the sun. After retiring, he and Andrea moved to Sun City Center, Florida, where they enjoyed the warm weather year-round. The Florida coast gave him the chance to continue doing what he loved most—fishing and spending time by the ocean.

In his later years, George lived at the Rhode Island Veterans Home, where he was cared for by a compassionate and dedicated staff. He cherished his time there and the friendships he made.

His burial with military honors will be held at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter at 10:30am on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s memory may be made to the Rhode Island Veterans Home Community Living Center, 480 Metacom Avenue, Bristol, RI 02809.
