Charles R. Quinn

Quinn, Charles R., “CQ” 89, died peacefully Sunday morning at home in Cranston with his family by his side.  Born in West Warwick, a son of the late Edward and Mildred (Johnson) Quinn.  He was the husband of 52 years with Ann R. (Chassey) Quinn. 

He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict.  He was a former RI state 10 pin Bowling Champion, having achieved this many times.  He worked for Yello Gold and Wesco Banana’s for over 40 years before retiring and was known as “The Banana Man”.  He enjoyed playing Hi- Low-Jack with family and friends.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.  His motto was try to do something good each day.

Besides his wife he leaves 3 children; sons Richard C. (Blythe) Quinn of Fuquay Varina, NC, Robert Quinn of Warwick, a daughter Tracy (Jason) Rapose of Fiskdale, MA, four grandchildren Maxwell and Sydney Quinn and Rachel and Jack Rapose.  He leaves a sister-in-law Marie D’Arezzo of Cranston and an adopted brother Jim (Jane) Stapleton of Cranston.  He was brother of the late Edward Quinn and Sharon Johnston Smith.

His life will be celebrated with calling hours Thursday from 3:00pm to 7:00pm in the Stapleton Family Funeral Home, 684 Park Avenue.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10:00am in St. Paul Church.  At the conclusion of the mass Military Honors will be presented.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul Church, One St. Paul Place, Cranston, RI 02905.  Burial will be private.
