Gloria L. (Johnson) Anderson Taylor, formerly of Great Island, Narragansett and East Greenwich, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2025. Born in Manhattan, NY, she was a daughter of the late David and Florence (Mahoney) Johnson.

She was a longtime employee of Kent County Hospital where she worked as a Certified Medical Transcriptionist and once served as President of the New England Chapter of the Association of American Medical Transcriptionists. As a woman of deep faith, she was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church and sang in the choir at St. Mary Star of the Sea in Narragansett for 10 years. Always one to stay active, Gloria was a member of the Bar B Whirlers Square Dance Club, a Girl Scout Leader, Past Social Director of the Great Island Improvement Association and on the Planning Committee for the East Greenwich Navy Day Parade. In her downtime, she enjoyed walking, traveling and writing poetry. She wrote over 300 poems that she read at different assisted livings and libraries. She wrote in such a way that she was able to evoke an image of what she was trying to convey in the listeners’ minds. Above all else, spending time with her extended family is when she was most happy.

Gloria was the devoted mother of Kathleen G. Bourassa (husband, Alfred Barnicoat), William W. Anderson (wife, Judith Ann), Gloria M. Rossiter-Masi (husband, Michael) and the late Ernest D. Anderson; cherished ‘Gram’, ‘Mimi’ and ‘Gigi’ to 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Robert E. Johnson, Bernard V. Johnson, Florence M. Schneider and Maria M. Arsenault with whom she shared a special bond as her twin sister. Gloria was also the longtime companion of the late William L. Bosco with whom she shared more than 20 years of love and friendship.
