To the Editor,

On August 15th, 2022 I filed a complaint against Warwick Fire Union President Mike Carriero who was running for District 29 Senate.  Carriero forged his estranged wife's name on the nomination papers, falsified his address while sworn under oath, and then manipulated and falsified an election document. These are all felonies.   These facts were clearly shown to be credible and in fact his estranged wife corroborated these facts to the press. 

The complaint was hand delivered to the Chief of Police in Warwick which was turned over to the Rhode Island State Police due to the fact of a conflict of interest.  Carriero's brother is the prosecutor for the Warwick Police.

On the weekend leading up to Labor Day, on Thursday September 1st, I spoke to Detective Brown of the State Police who informed me that immediately after Labor Day he would be scheduling interviews with all parties as he had the weekend off.  Several weeks after Labor Day and numerous unreturned phone calls, I finally contacted Detective Brown who after conversation informed me that as of that date, he had not made any attempts to look into the matter.  Eight phone calls later and 4 months the State Police have not returned any calls although messages have been left with the administration on each call. 

If you recall, two individuals in Jamestown were prosecuted for similar crimes, however, they were not the candidate. In this case, the "candidate" is a public servant, has refused to speak to the press, and by all accounts appears to be being covered for by the State Police. 

I attached the complaint in its entirety as it is an official public record.  How can this happen?  Evidently, if you are part of a municipal union, crime is acceptable.
