A 24-hour foul shooting event was held at Cranston East starting at noon on Saturday (May 14) and finishing at noon on Sunday. (May 15) Stephanie Coro was the primary shooter -- making 100 foul shots every hour on the hour for 24 hours.

Festivities started at 1 p.m. on Saturday as Governor McKee challenged Mayor Ken Hopkins best of 25 foul shots.

The governor made 19 and Hopkins made 14. East Principal Sean Kelly challenged West Assistant Principal Chris Coleman. Coleman made 23 of 25 and Kelly made 19. Other competitors included Cranston Police, Cranston Fire, the West girls team and the East boys team. On Sunday morning, Michael Lunney, Executive Director of the RI Interscholastic League, made 23 of 25 shots. Denny DeJesus made 19. The event raised $10,000 for Special Olympics of Rhode Island.
