Paul R. Potter, age 67, of Warwick, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence.  He was the husband of the late Terrie L. (Fales) Potter.

Born in Warwick, a son of the late Charles E. Potter, Jr. and Marie M. (Varrieur) Potter, he lived in Warwick since 1958.  He held a bachelor’s degree in culinary arts from Johnson & Wales University.

Paul was employed as a chef at the Dave’s Fresh Marketplace Commissary in East Greenwich until his retirement in 2017.  Prior to that he worked as a chef at the Rhode Island Convention Center and Warwick Country Club.  Earlier in his life, he was employed at Ann & Hope, and as a pipefitter at the Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics at Quonset Point.

Paul was a member of St. Timothy Parish in Warwick, where he served as a eucharistic minister.  He was a member and Past Master of the Old Warwick Grange.  Over the years, he took-in numerous rescue animals.

He is survived by a brother, John. E. Potter of Sebring, FL; three sisters, Ann M. Coughlin of Lisbon Falls, ME, Lorraine E. Potter-Cooper of Warwick, and Joan L. Clegg of West Warwick; a step-son, Christopher Hawk (wife Anna) of Connecticut; a step-daughter, Heather Greene (husband Christopher) of Kansas; three grandchildren, Jordan, Conner, and Mason Greene; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, December 15, at 10 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Avenue, Warwick.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 9 – 10 a.m.  Burial will be in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Pet Refuge No-Kill Cat Shelter, 500 Stony Lane, North Kingstown, RI 02852, or the Potter League for Animals, 87 Oliphant Lane, Middletown, RI 02842.
