SHOPLIFTING

At approximately 11:38 a.m. on Dec. 5, Officer Thomas W. Greene responded to the Home Depot at 80 Universal Blvd. for a report of shoplifting. Dispatch subsequently advised that a male suspect was in custody.

At the scene, an asset protection associate at the store told Greene that the suspect had been observed exiting the store with a cart full of battery-powered tools without making any attempt to pay. The six tools – including a drill impact kit, grinder, screwdriver kit, battery charger, sawzall and multi-tool – were valued at a combined $804.

Dennis K. Stirk, 57, Blackstone, Massachusetts, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. He was later released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court.

LARCENY

Shortly after 4 p.m. on Dec. 4, Officer Sara L. Goes responded to a reported larceny at the Metropolitan Property & Casualty Building at 700 Quaker Lane. Dispatch then advised that according to a security guard at the scene, the window of a vehicle in the parking lot – described as a 2018 Honda CR-V – had been smashed and two of the vehicle’s wheels were missing.

At the scene, the security guard told Goes that a review of security camera footage had not revealed a suspect. The vehicle was being held up by a cinder block, and eight lug nuts were observed on the ground near the vehicle.

The matter was forwarded to detectives.

VANDALISM

At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 9, Officer Robert J. Canis-Langlais responded to a Blackstone Avenue residence for a report of vandalism.

At the scene, the reporting party told Canis-Langlais that in mid-October, vandals had attempted to destroy his mailbox, described as a custom Walpole Woodworkers mailbox valued at approximately $500. The reporting party said he was concerned regarding several instances of malicious damaged that had occurred in the neighborhood.

The damage to the mailbox was photographed and the matter was forwarded to detectives.

Then, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Canis-Langlais responded to another Blackstone Avenue home for a report of malicious damage.

At the scene, the reporting party told Canis-Langlais that her mailbox – an antique valued at approximately $120 – had been damaged and no longer closed properly. The damage had been discovered on Dec. 7.

Additionally, the reporting party said a wooden easel she had been using in her front yard to advertise a yard sale had been destroyed. That damaged was discovered Dec. 2. The easel, also an antique, was valued at roughly $15.

Canis-Langlais observed the damage to the mailbox. The matter was documented.

SUSPENDED LICENSE

At approximately 5:39 p.m. on Dec. 1, Officer Frank J. Montanaro responded to a motor vehicle accident in the area of the Interstate 95 on-ramp on East Avenue.

At the scene, Montanaro observed another motor vehicle accident near the one to which he had responded. Snowfall had resulted in numerous accidents that evening, the officer reports.

Montanaro made contact with the operators of the two vehicles involved in the accident. A records check found the operator of the second vehicle had a suspended license and two previous convictions for driving with a suspended license. The vehicle was also found to be uninsured, and its registration was suspended.

Darren Forces, 35, 613 Main St., Apt 613, Pawtucket, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license, third or subsequent offense, and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. He was later released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court. He was additionally cited for operating with a suspended registration and operating without insurance.

At approximately 9:15 p.m. on Dec. 6, Officer Sara L. Goes was operating a marker cruiser northbound on Warwick Avenue when she observed a black 2016 Kia Sorento cross over the lane lanes three times.

The vehicle turned right onto West Shore Road, at which point Goes initiated a motor vehicle stop. She made contact with the operator, who was found through a records check to have a suspended license and three prior convictions for driving with a suspended license.

Montrel J. Crudup, 28, 94 Waverly St., Apt. 2, Warwick, was issued a summons to appear in Third Division District Court on a charge of driving with a suspended license, third or subsequent offense. He was additionally cited for laned roadway violations. His vehicle was towed from the scene.

Shortly after 2 a.m. on Dec. 8, Officer Oliver M. Pinheiro was conducting a routine patrol on Warwick Avenue when he observed a green 2004 Infiniti SUV traveling at approximately 46 mph in a 35 mph zone. The officer reports that the vehicle also crossed over the lane dividing lines multiple times.

Pinheiro initiated a motor vehicle stop in the area of Planet Fitness and made contact with the operator and the vehicle’s three passengers. A records check found the operator’s license was suspended and he had three previous convictions for driving with a suspended license.

Dusten L. Johnson, 28, 22 Highland Ave., Coventry, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license, third or subsequent offense, and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. He was later released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court. He was additionally cited for speeding and leaving the lane of travel.

One of the passengers, who had a valid license, took custody of the vehicle.
