CAR CRASH
On Feb. 11 at 9:50 p.m., officers responded to the area of 840 Post Road for the report of a motor vehicle accident.
When they arrived on scene, officers found a crash involving a car and mini bike. The car’s driver, an unnamed 31-year-old, was uninjured, but the child on the mini bike had signs of serious injuries, and was transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
According to the WPD’s Accident Reconstruction Team, their investigation found that the car had been traveling north on Post Road when three children on gas- and electric-powered mini bikes exited against the one-way entrance onto Post Rd while turning left in front of the approaching car. The car struck the first before coming to a stop in close proximity to the area of impact. The child was not wearing a helmet.
It was determined that speed was not a factor, and no charges are pending against the driver at this time.
LARCENY
On Jan. 6 at 2:00 a.m., Warwick police officers apprehended Jayzon Snead, 19, of Providence on counts of larceny.
Snead had reportedly stolen IPhone 16s delivered to houses on multiple occasions, as well as other packages often relating to phones. One officer believed that the porch piracy had been made possible due to a data leak from FedEx, Verizon and AT&T that exposed tracking numbers and delivery locations. Incident reports showed larcenies reportedly connecting to Snead, who had been identified on personal security cameras, dating back to last September.
Snead had also been wanted by the Cranston Police Department. He was charged with larceny.
SHOPLIFTING
On Jan. 8 at 4:54 p.m., a WPD officer responded to the Best Buy on Universal Blvd. for reports of a shoplifting in progress.
Upon arriving in the store, officers made contact with the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Tylor Menard of Pawtucket. Menard had two pairs of Sony headphones in his pockets, as well as a JBL speaker. All together, the items were valued at $848.
Menard was arrested and charged with shoplifting.
HIT AND RUN
On Jan. 9 at 3:21 p.m., a WPD officer responded to a report of a minor motor vehicle accident on Bald Hill Road. By the time he arrived, one of the two cars- the at-fault party- had left the scene.
Though the other driver had left the scene, the crash’s victim, Victoria Ramos, said that the owner of the other car- 25-year-old Adam Yidana of Cranston- had given her his phone number before leaving the scene.
Officers called Yidana, and after he responded, informed him that they would meet him at his residence. Yidana met the officers, and told them that the reason that he left was because he felt unsafe on the side of Bald Hill Road.
Yidana was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident.
