Roundup: Hawks win five straight

The Bishop Hendricken basketball team surged past Cranston East 60-30 last week in a DI battle.

Michael D’Ambra led the Hawks with 19 points while James Caldarella added 16 in the win. The Hawks were supposed to be back at it on Tuesday but the game was postponed due to weather.

Hendricken also beat Portsmouth 68-63 on the following Friday, then earned a revenge win over Barrington on Monday. Hendricken extended its league winning streak to five games.

Rogers 49, Pilgrim 41

Rogers earned a low-scoring win over Pilgrim last weekend.

Mike Masse led the Pats with 12 points scored, followed by Dylan Vale with 10. The Pats dropped to 6-10 this winter, and will have to win one of their final three games to clinch a postseason berth.

Shea 63, Toll Gate 46

The Titans fell to Shea last week in a DII showdown. Jack Colvin led the Titans with 15 points while Liam Leahy added 14 and Dylan Perreault nine. Toll Gate dropped to 3-14 in the division.


BOYS HOCKEY

La Salle 5, Pilgrim 0

The Pats were shut out by DI powerhouse La Salle last week.

Goalie Braxton Bragg finished with 27 saves in net while Michael Bessette recorded 17 stops.

Pilgrim’s offense was also stymied the previous game when first-place Prout earned a 4-0 shutout. Bragg finished with 27 saves. La Salle held the Pats to just 12 shots on net while Pilgrim improved with 22 against Prout.

Mount St. Charles 5, EG-Toll Gate 1

The Mounties would jump out to a 4-0 lead in the first period and not look back as they dealt the East Greenwich-Toll Gate co-op a loss last week.

EG-TG’s lone goal was recorded by Cam Omicioli.
