The Hawks were swept by the Skippers 3-0 (25-23), (25-18), (25-16) during a boys Division I volleyball showdown on Monday at North Kingstown High School.

The Skippers (14-2) have now won nine matches in a row since losing back-to-back games to Hendricken and La Salle Academy at the end of April.

“North is excellent,” Bishop Hendricken head coach Mike Harrington said. “They have a combination of great athletes and some really experienced players, and they’re ready to make a good playoff run, and we’re hoping to do everything we can to see them again in the playoffs.”

Tyler Yang, a junior setter, paced the North Kingstown offense with 31 assists, while Mason Andrade, a senior, added 13 kills, four blocks, four aces, and nine digs.

Skippers junior Ryan Murphy added six digs and three kills, and Cam Alexander, a senior, recorded eight kills, while Sean McManus, also a senior, contributed four kills and three blocks.

Rounding out the scoring for North Kingstown was Jared Samson, a junior, and Cody Tow, a freshman, who finished with five kills apiece.

Hawks junior setter Brian Garrepy set the stride for Hendricken with 25 assists and nine digs. Seniors Ryan Osley, Evan Dion, and Andrew Picard registered six kills each, and Osley and Dion contributed a block each.

Hendricken junior Devin Lynch added four kills and four blocks, while senior Jay Hammond recorded four kills and two blocks.

The Hawks went down 20-10 in the first set before battling back and tying it at 21.

“I credit our front row play,” Harrington said. “Jay Hammond and Ryan Osley put up some good blocks during that stretch and that sets up the rest of our defense to be able to make more digs and make more plays. So, they started that run with some big net play.”

The Hawks defeated Cranston East on Tuesday 3-1 and finished the regular season with a record of 11-8.

Hendricken will focus on sharpening all of its skills ahead of the postseason.

“There’s a few things that we’re trying to add in, but for our side a lot of it is just consistency all around,” Harrington said. “Hitting, serving, passing, setting, all of it. So, we just need to be more consistent in all phases of the game and then we’re able to compete with any team in the league.
