(Character Portrait)

This Academy Award nominee for Best Foreign Language Film has been well received by critics and audiences at several film festivals.
Joyce and I both found it to be an interesting character study but were not overwhelmed by the characters.

The movie chronicles four years in the life of Julie, a young woman who struggles with her career choices, family and love life.

The movie is divided into 12 chapters, plus a prologue and epilogue.

Julie (Renate Reinsve) at times may think that she is “the worst person in the world” as she searches for her identity. How you see her will be different, depending on where you are coming from.

Some may see her as a feminist and a strong woman. We saw her as being selfish, or at least self-centered.

The movie takes place in Oslo, which is seen as a progressive city.
.Rated R, with lots of sex, drugs and rock and roll. English sub-titles.

movie, cinema
