Edward L. Thomas, 73, a retired commercial shell fisherman passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving companion of Patricia A. (Brown) Knapton. Born in Warwick, he was a son of the late Paul and Loretta (Frazier) Thomas. Edward was the loving father of Brenda Thomas (Patrick), Lori Thomas, Edward Thomas, Jr. (Natalie) and Simeon Thomas (Cari); loving grandfather of Ryan, Kala, Nicole, Andrew, David, Jeremy, Corey, Emma, Hayley, Ian, Jaden, Noah, Rowan and the late Kelsey. Brother of Paul Thomas (Carol) and the late Carolyn Lackey. He is also survived by seven loving great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Edward was a lifetime resident of the city of Warwick, an avid New England sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox. He loved celebrating with his family and friends his birthday on the 4th of July and will be remembered for his epic bonfires at Oakland Beach.
His visitation was held Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 9-11am with a celebration of life at 11am in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick. He was laid to rest in the family lot in the East Greenwich Cemetery, East Greenwich.
