A Veterans Day observance will be held this Friday in front of Warwick City Hall beginning at 9 a.m.


Rucking for Roofs

Veterans Day, Nov. 11. Join us for a walk to raise funds to house veterans. The walk starts at Newport Elks Lodge and ends at E. Providence Elks Lodge (27 miles). Donate per mile/per step/per flat amount! The walk will have check points about every two miles with volunteers at each one. If you are interested in walking, please stop into the Elks Lodge after 3 p.m. to get a registration form and please turn it in no later than Nov. 4. All walkers will be invited to a complimentary dinner at the East Providence Elks Lodge following the walk.


Emanuel Lutheran Church Craft Fair, Bazaar

Emanuel Lutheran Church, 9 New London Avenue, West Warwick, will be holding a Craft Fair & Bazaar on Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Nov. 13 from noon to 3 p.m. There will be unique handmade items, local vendors, baked goods, raffle baskets, refreshments and so much more. Take a Christmas photo with an antique truck (weather permitting).


Holiday Craft and Vendor Fair

Get out your Holiday gift list and head to the Scottish Rite Masonic Temple (2115 Broad St., Cranston) to find all the best goodies for your loved ones! Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., find crafts, baked goods, candles, and much more! There will be something for every elf in your life! And don’t forget to treat yourself while you’re there too! This event is sponsored by the Warwick Assembly #15, International Order of Rainbow for Girls.


Sacred Heart Church Christmas Bazaar

Sacred Heart Church, 820 Providence St., West Warwick, will hold its annual Christmas Bazaar on Nov. 18 from noon to 7 p.m. and Nov. 19 from 10 a.m. to 7p.m. Many of the old time booths will be back.  Arts and Crafts with many new items, Penny Social, Special Raffle, Pot of Gold, and our special "Mrs. Claus’ Attic," bigger and better.  The kitchen will be open throughout, and Friday night will feature our all time favorite: chowder and clam cakes!


Public Turkey Dinner

The First Congregational Church of Warwick at 715 Oakland Beach Ave. will hold a turkey dinner with all the fixings Nov. 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church. Open to the public, tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for children and adults over 70 years old.  Volunteers and donations are welcome.


Edgewood Church Holiday Sale

The Edgewood Congregational Church, 1788 Broad St., Cranston, will hold its annual holiday sale on Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition to gift items, collectibles, raffles and snacks, the six rooms housing the Lydia’s Closet Thrift Show will be open for bargain clothing, housewares, and other items suitable for gifts and personal purchases. Many rare items have been donated from estates and are for sale at bargain prices as local families struggle during these difficult financial times.

Bring a canned item for the Food Bank and have a cup of coffee on the organization. Proceeds from the holiday event will go toward the work of the church in the Cranston/Warwick area. For further information, call 461-1344.


St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Penny Social

St. Mark's Episcopal Church (111 West Shore Road) Penny Social returns! Saturday, November 19. 9 am - 2 pm. Lunch 11-1. Drawings begin at 2 pm. Items include: various filled baskets, air fryer, TV and bike. The undercroft is handicapped accessible via an elevator from the parking lot!


Holiday Craft Show

Storytime at the Library

The Pontiac Free Library will host two special story times to celebrate the holidays. The first being Nov. 19 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for Thanksgiving. The story time will be followed by a craft with Ms. Diane. On Dec. 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. there will be a Holiday story time with Ms. Diane followed by a visit from the big man himself -- Santa! Warwick Rotary 5k Turkey Trot

Come together at the Warwick City Park Ball Fields on Thanksgiving day to benefit the Kent Hospital Employee Emergency Fund. Race registration begins at 7:15 a.m. and the trot begins at 8 a.m. There will also be a costume contest! Prizes will be awarded to the best costume, most original, and best dressed family/group. Please bring one non-perishable food item per person plus $20 for adults, $15 for students (ages 6-18), kids 5 and under no charge with a paid adult, $50 for family (2 adults & 2 students), $20 for virtual runners. The Warwick Center for the Arts is gearing up for its annual Winter Market, which is designed as a festive, artful, and unique shopping experience. Christmas Concert

The New England Ringers will present a handbell concert, 2022 Christmas Past and Christmas Present(s), at Woodbury Union Church, Presbyterian, 58 Beach Street, Warwick, RI. Need Christmas Help?

Families residing in Coventry, Cranston, Scituate, Warwick and West Warwick in need of Christmas help may apply for assistance from Little Free Pantry in Warwick by Nov. 26. Our goal is to provide one to three items per child: value of your gifts range from $5 to $35 dollars as this is a helping hand. We do our best to help as many as we can, we do not guarantee help. The application process is simple. Please send us a message with the following information.

  1. Your Name, a picture/copy of a recent utility bill in your name (your photo ID will be required at pick up) please block out account numbers, we just need to verify address and name. We can not accept people signing up for others, your Facebook name must be similar to your real name.
  2. For each child up to age 17, Child name (first name only), age, gender and wish list or a list of likes (of mixed value max $35 per item). You must provide a list because we can not fill requests without it. Please note we will consider children over age 17 with special needs, please PM us in regards to our requirements. No requests for gift cards/tickets, as well as any video games/systems (exception would be inexpensive headphones and accessories ) will be honored.
  3. List of other programs you have signed up for, or intend to sign up for.
  4. Due to dishonesty about children, we now require birth certificate at pick up, your ID must match one of the parents listed on the birth certificate. Exception for those with legal custody paperwork will be required. This for visual inspection in person only!

While we never ask for income verification and reserve the right to ask for additional information for children as you may only sign up your children that live with you full time. Our pick up location is in Warwick, near RT 37. We provide this information when pick up times are arranged. This is borrowed space afforded to us by a local business in which we are allowed to use after business hours.


Abstract Intuitive Painting

Warwick Center for the Arts will host “Abstract Intuitive Painting” on the first Thursday of October, November and December from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Individuals will learn to select colors intuitively and apply various textures and marks to a wood panel using a variety of materials to create an 11x14 abstract acrylic painting on a wood panel. Young Musicians Scholarship

The Music on the Hill scholarship directly supports the study of classical music performance. Awards will be disbursed directly to the winner’s designated instructor, ensemble program, summer opportunity, school, conservatory or college music fee. The first prize includes $400 and a performance opportunity in Music on the Hill’s 2023 festival. The second prize is $200. Applicants must be Rhode Island residents between ages 13 and 18. This scholarship includes all instruments and voice. Chamber groups may apply together and share the prize. The application includes a four to eight minute recorded video audition. Library looking for podcast geeks

Are you a fan of listening to podcasts? Do you have a lot of technical skills you would like to apply to a great community resource? The library has its own weekly podcast, Warwick Radio Online, and is building a team to help run it.

Warwick Radio Online (https://warwicklibrary.org/warwick-radio-online-4) highlights the wonderful things that make Warwick great from community resources to opportunities for entertainment to the background and history of the city. They are looking for folks who would like to be technicians to operate the recording studio and edit episodes of the show, on-air talent to serve as hosts of episodes, or managers to supervise and schedule podcast episodes. Those interested can serve in one or all of these roles. Tasks could include recording content in the studio, hosting/co-hosting, interviewing, scriptwriting, editing sound, and experience with Apple computers and the GarageBand audio-editing software. Experience would be helpful, but the library can also help you learn the skills you would need to work on the podcast.

Volunteer with Westbay Community Action

Do you have a passion and desire to make a difference in your community? Westbay Community Action’s ‘Marketplace,’ the second largest food pantry in RI, needs volunteers who are interested in a fun and rewarding experience working with like-minded people. Volunteers 17 years or older will be stocking shelves, unpacking trucks and helping individuals with picking up their food. Bowlers Needed

The Warwick Men’s Church Bowling League is in need of some new bowlers. The league was established in 1951 and is still bowling duckpin at the Meadowbrook Bowling Alley in Warwick. The group bowls on Tuesday nights from September until April. A weekly fee of $15 provides three games of bowling, small events and a banquet at the end of the season with cash prizes. Take Off Pounds Sensibly

Take off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) #38 in East Greenwich has returned to having meetings every Thursday morning at St. Luke's Episcopal Church (99 Pierce St., East Greenwich) at the lower level. The meeting will be ongoing. Weigh-in begins at 9:30 a.m. and the meeting begins at 10 a.m.

Collectable Car Show

Tri City Elks Lodge 1915 W. Shore Rd. Warwick presents a Custom Collectible Car Show on Thursdays at 5 p.m. around the back of the lodge. Bring your auto and show it off or just come and enjoy the night. There will be music and food for sale and the Tiki Bar will be open for beverages! Additionally, Tuesdays are the lodge’s Jeep Night at 5 p.m.  Jeeps and 4x4's of all shapes and sizes are welcome. The Tiki Bar will be open; food by PB&J's will be available to purchase.


Old Warwick Grange 41

The Grange is a fraternal community service, nonprofit organization with a special interest in rural life and the traditions of faith, patriotism, leadership and family values. It’s a place where the whole family can go and grow. Help us to help others.

Hearts for Hospice

Visiting Nurse Home and Hospice (VNH&H) is asking for individuals to support their hospice programs by giving $20 or more to their Hearts for Hospice campaign. People can dedicate their gift to a loved one who is always in their heart; all dedications will be listed on the organization’s website. Calling All Cribbage Players

Do you play cribbage? If so, consider joining a small group of cribbage players from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. every Friday who meet and play at the East Greenwich Community Center located on Pierce Street in East Greenwich. Consider Donating Blood

The Rhode Island Blood Center is in need of blood. Individuals wishing to donate must book an appointment at the donation center; walk-ins are only accepted if safe distancing allows at the person’s time of arrival. Walk and Talk at Rocky Point

Come join the “Rocky Point Pacers” for a walk around Rocky Point every Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 9 a.m., weather permitting. They meet at the gate on Rocky Point Avenue.


Be Kind RI

Be Kind RI is a new program that connects volunteers to their neighbors across RI through text alerts to coordinate food deliveries from grocery stores and food pantries. To sign up go to www.BeKindRI.org. Volunteers must be 18 or older and undergo our background check. Be Kind RI is open to those in RI experiencing COVID-19 risk factors including seniors 65+, anyone with underlying health conditions, those in quarantine or isolation, anyone experiencing a lack of childcare, and those who would otherwise experience difficulty in obtaining food. Meals on Wheels in Need of Volunteers

Meals on Wheels of RI is in immediate need of volunteers for its Home-Delivered Meal Program in Warwick. Meals are delivered Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The program helps homebound seniors remain healthy, safe and happy at home. Citizenship Prep Classes at WPL

Prepare for the U.S. Naturalization Interview with Citizen Preparation classes at the Warwick Public Library. Practice citizenship vocabulary, learn the necessary civics content, and work on interview skills using the N-400 application form. Classes meet on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. starting Sept. 25. Sign up at the library. For more information, call (401) 455-8041. Get a Job Thursdays

We Make RI, an organization that provides free manufacturing training, is hosting a series of job fairs every Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at their offices at 200 First Ave. in Cranston. We Make RI offer job seekers a chance to meet with employers, get career counseling, resume help and more. Some employers include Swissline Precision, Admiral Packaging, KB Surfaces, Warwick Hanger and Hitachi Cable.
