MEN INJURED IN CRASH

Three men were hospitalized following an early-morning April 4 crash near the intersection of Elmwood and Pawtuxet avenues, according to Warwick Police.

Officers responded to the scene at approximately 2:46 a.m., finding an Acura sedan had collided with a Subaru SUV.

An “unresponsive” 23-year-old male was trapped in the Acura, according to police, and he was removed by Warwick rescue personnel before being transported to Rhode Island Hospital. The man was listed in critical but stable condition at the hospital earlier this week.

Police also found two 25-year-old men – the operator and passenger from the Subaru – on the sidewalk of the northbound lane of Elmwood Avenue. One of the men was lying on the sidewalk and the other was standing, according to police, but “both were conscious and alert.”

Both men were treated at the scene before being transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where they were listed in stable condition earlier this week.

According to police, an initial investigation determined the Acura had been traveling south when it crossed the center lines and struck the SUV head-on. No witnesses to the crash have been identified.

“At this point, alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash” a statement from police reads.

The Warwick Police Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash, and anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Sgt. John Curley in the Traffic Division at (401) 468-4293.
