Warwick resident Bob Lavoie will be the subject of an upcoming two-person exhibition titled Time and Tide at the historic Providence Art Club alongside Narragansett resident Pati Sylvia. The exhibition will run April 21 – May 9 in the Club’s Dodge House Gallery at 11 Thomas Street. Bob earned a BFA in Graphic Design and Illustration from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth and went on to work for many years as the Art Director for Licensing and Entertainment at Hasbro. He left Hasbro in 2013 to form his own graphic design studio, spot51design. Bob’s fine art paintings employ a Photorealist approach and he often focuses on urban scenes, utilizing an eye for fine detail to capture the visual minutiae of a place.
Bob has exhibited widely and was featured in the International Guild of Realism’s Fall Online Salon 2022, the National Oil & Acrylic Painters Society’s Best of America National Juried Exhibition in 2023, and the Oil Painters of American 33rd National Juried Exhibition 2024. Additionally, his work has been exhibited in the Washington, DC office of Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, and was selected by the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts for exhibition at the Block Island Airport. He holds numerous affiliations and is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America, the American Artist Professional League, the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, and the International Guild of Realism.
Speaking of Bob’s work, Art Club gallery manager Michael Rose says, “Bob is an accomplished painter in the Photorealist tradition and his attention to detail is second to none. For those interested in urban scenes and realist oil painting, Bob’s exhibition is a must-see.”
