CONCEALED FIREARM
On May 10 at 5:32 p.m., Officer Nathaniel Gray observed a gray 2008 Honda Pilot traveling southbound on Jefferson Boulevard without a license plate affixed to the front of the vehicle. After conducting a motor vehicle stop, Gray made contact with the vehicle operator and passenger. The operator stated that she did not have a license, which Gray confirmed after running checks; this would be her second time committing the offense. The passenger, who was confirmed to be wanted by 2nd District Court for failing to appear in connection with charges of larceny and injuring or tampering with motor vehicles, was placed in handcuffs.
After conducting a search of the vehicle, Officer Gray seized a karambit knife from the vehicle’s center console. He then discovered a Chanel purse in the back of the vehicle concealed beneath a jacket, with a black .40 caliber pistol inside. There were rounds in the magazine. The operator confirmed that the purse was hers but initially denied ownership of the pistol before admitting she had paid $1,000 in cash for the firearm from an unconfirmed seller. Running the firearm’s serial number produced no record.
The operator was charged with one count of License or Permit To Carry Concealed Pistol Or Revolver and one count of Large Capacity Feeding Devices Prohibited. She was also issued a summons for Driving With Expired License Or Without License - 2nd Offense, as well as a summons for Display Of Registration Plates.
DRIVING ON SUSPENDED LICENSE
On May 7 at about 6:40 p.m., Officer Jake Reddy observed a motorcycle exiting from a parking lot on Ball Hill Road during a routine patrol. The operator turned right to travel north on Bald Hill, crossing over into the left lane at once point without using any turn signal and almost causing an accident with the police cruiser. After Reddy initiated a motor vehicle stop, the operator said that the motorcycle was not registered and that his license was suspended. A check showed that the license was inactive.
The operator was issued an e-citation and a summons to appear at the third district court for Driving on a Suspended/Revoked/Cancelled License - 4th Offense. He was also issued e-citations for Failure to Yield Entering from Private Driveway or Road and Turn Signal Required.
