Tom White was born June 10, 1952, in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. In 2018 he was diagnosed with a terminal form of Leukemia called CMML and was given 4 years to live. Tom lived for 7 years and passed away in his home among family and friends on June 9, 2025.
In 1987 Tom began working as a contracted Field Services Supervisor for Thielsch Engineering in Cranston, RI.
In 1990 he moved on to become the Maintenance Superintendent at Our Lady of Providence Center (OLP). The OLP Center is owned by the Diocese of Providence and is located on a 77- acre estate located in the Warwick Neck area of Warwick, RI. At the time of Tom’s employment, the estate included the Aldrich Mansion, the Overbrook Academy, a chapel and several historical buildings. Tom oversaw all maintenance, grounds care, construction and renovations on the property for 27 years. He loved his job, he loved the estate, and Tom felt blessed to work with many fine people during his time there.
For 25 years Tom was a close friend to Bill W. Through his involvement with Bill W., he built a “family” of meaningful dear friends whose friendship and support he valued greatly. Tom said his involvement with this “family” gave him purpose and was truly life changing.
Until the onset of Leukemia, Tom enjoyed working out at his gym, walking several miles a day and he enjoyed the beauty of the area in which he lived. He was an avid student of both Roman and Middle Age European history. Tom both fostered and pet sat for numerous dogs over his life and he greatly enjoyed his good friends and family.
Tom is survived by his three siblings, Elizabeth (Raymond), Catherine (Betsy) and Molly (David); four nephews, Travis (Rachel), Charles (Chris), Daniel (Jocelyn) and Brian (Julia); two grandnieces, Ariel and Cora Leigh and a grand nephew, Gavin.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hope Hospice who provided great support and comfort to Tom and his family during his final days. A Celebration of Life was held for Tom at the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, Warwick.
