To the Editor,
Why is the gate to Conimicut Point closed at 8 or 9 am? Why is it closed at all? The signs say the park is closed sunset to sunrise… if you have to close the gates that’s the only time they should be closed. But why couldn’t we go to the point to watch the super moon (or any moon or sun) rise? Many people like to watch those events or just sit and contemplate the tides and Mother Nature.
It’s a favorite place for morning coffee and getting your act together. Why is the gate closed? What can I, as an 80 year Warwick resident, do to have it left open?
Barbara McKerracher
Warwick
Editor’s note: When contacted, Major Andrew Sullivan of Warwick Police explained the gates were being opened after 8 by those manning the checkpoint for beach parking permits. It has since been changed to sunrise.
