William R. Douglas

William R. Douglas, age 85, of North Kingstown, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Brentwood Nursing Home in Warwick.  He was the husband of Mary E. (Esposito) Douglas.  They were married for 63 years.

Born in Providence, the son of the late W. Elmer Douglas and Jean (McAllister) Douglas Hannan, and step-son of the late Patrick J. Hannan, he lived in Warwick before moving to North Kingstown in 1996. He served with the U.S. Army Reserves.

Bill was the superintendent of Pawtuxet Memorial Park in Warwick since 1974.  Earlier he had been employed with the Carpenters Union and the City of Warwick.

He was a former coach with West Side Little League in Warwick and Warwick Junior Hockey.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Robin P. Douglas and her husband Paul Higgins, of Warwick; two sons, William R. Douglas, Jr. of Warwick and Stephen P. Douglas of North Kingstown; and two granddaughters, Rachel M. Douglas and Mia S. Douglas.

The family wishes to express their gratitude for the exceptional care that Bill received from Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, and the staff of Brentwood Nursing Home.

His funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 13, in the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick.  Burial was in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick.
