Spring Green Memorial Church at 1350 Warwick Ave. will hold a yard sale on June 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the church parking lot. (In case of rain, the sale will be held inside the church building.) There will be many assorted items for sale including jewelry, clothing, household items and homemade goods. Petting Zoo

The Pawtuxet Baptist Church (2157 Broad St., Cranston) will host a petting zoo on May 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be $5 pony rides and balloon twisting by Antknee.


Fire Barn Crafts

There will be a craft and vendor event from 10 a.m. to 3 .m. at the Oakland Beach Fire Barn (651 Oakland Beach Ave., Warwick) on May 29. Some of the vendors include GoneKrafty27, Color Street, 31 Gifts, Crocheted Blankets, Reaper’s Beauty and more. Food and beverages will be available for purchase and there will be a 50/50 to benefit Thrive Behavioral Health.


Gaspee Day Foot Race

Enjoy the excitement of running before a pre-assembled cheering crowd in anticipation of the annual Gaspee Days Parade. Over 1,600 runners each year participate in this event along the parkway’s famed red, white and blue road stripe. The Gaspee Days 5K will take place at 9:30 a.m. on June 11. Challenge yourself to place a record among our top runners and win a prize or just do it for the fun – either way, you are supporting one of the area’s favorite community events, as all proceeds support funding the annual Gaspee Days Parade. Yoga Flow

The Warwick Central Library will hold a free yoga flow class on June 7 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. hosted by West Shore Wellness. Yoga flow is for all levels, and the class will focus on breath and mindfulness to flow into postures with ease. The class includes a light warm up, gradually coming into postures and finishing with meditation and sound healing. Individuals must bring a yoga mat and bottled water. Art Exhibit

The East Greenwich Art Club will exhibit artwork at the East Greenwich Free Library (82 Peirce St., East Greenwich) from May 31 to June 24. The exhibit is free and open to the public during library hours: Monday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday-Thursday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday-Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a reception to meet the artists on June 2 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served. EG Art Club Meeting

The East Greenwich Art Club will meet at the East Greenwich United Methodist Church (1558 South County Trail) at 7 p.m. on June 7. The meeting is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Michele Leavitt -- award winning textile artist, painter and drawing teacher -- will discuss the different ways she uses needlework to create two dimensional art. Her work can be found in collections at the Newport Art Museum and the University of Virginia Art Museum. 13th Annual
Classic Car Show

After a two year hiatus, the 13th Annual “Cause for Paws” Classic Car Show roars to life on Sunday, June 12. There will be antiques and classic cars, plus all Corvettes, custom, muscle, hot rod, rat rod, exotics and fire trucks. There is a $15 entry per car – registration is from 9 a.m. to noon and trophies are given at 2 p.m. For spectators, admission is free. Proceeds benefit homeless animals at the Warwick Animal Shelter. Watercolor Painting

Join the Pontiac Free Library for a watercolor painting and educational workshop with Rhode Island artist Aileen M. Westbay Community Action’s Annual Farm Plant Sale

Westbay Farm will hold its annual plant sale at 1351 Centerville Road in Warwick on May 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A list of items for sale will be shared closer to the sale. As we prepare for this fun event we’re asking the community to donate some key items. We’re in need of grocery and lunch sized paper bags, three to four inch diameter plant pots, four-pack planters, black carrying trays and medium sized cardboard boxes. Lawn Concert

On May 29 at 3 p.m. the 2022 Music on the Hill Chamber Music Festival will host the Narragansett Brass Quintet, performing under the porte-cochere at Clouds Hill Museum. Theatre Summer
Programs

The Rhode Island Youth Theatre Summer Programs will have two summer programs at the Historic Park Theatre and Event Center. “The Wizard of Oz: Youth Edition” is for ages 7 to 16 and will take July 25 through August 6. No experience needed. Shows will take place August 5 at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. and August 6 at 7 p.m. The second program is “The Music Man, Jr.” which will run from August 8 to August 19. Comedy Fundraiser

AARP Martha’s Vineyard Trip

AARP Chapter 2210 has planned a Martha’s Vineyard trip for July 7. Bus pickup from the Exit 6A Park & Ride at 8 a.m., return time is approximately 7:30 p.m. Cost is $129/person. Trip includes motor coach transportation, ferry ride from Falmouth, guided bus tour of Martha’s Vineyard and sightseeing in Edgartown with a stop at Bertucci’s for dinner on the way home. Comedy Night
Fundraiser

Sts. Rose & Clement Parish, 111 Long Street, Warwick is holding a comedy night fundraiser presented by Funny4Fund$ on May 21.  Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m.  This adult only (18+) event will feature church appropriate comedy, raffles, 50/50 and the drawing of the Grand Raffle winners. Notable Works Publication and Distribution Co., Inc. and Audubon Society of Rhode Island will host a poetry, music and performance at the Audubon in Bristol. Hospital 2022 Gala

There will be a celebration of mother and earth on June 11 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the WaterFire Arts Center located at 475 Valley St., Providence. This event is important for raising critical funds for a new labor and delivery center at the hospital. Old Warwick Grange 41

The Grange is a fraternal community service, nonprofit organization with a special interest in rural life and the traditions of faith, patriotism, leadership and family values. It’s a place where the whole family can go and grow. Help us to help others.

Monthly Grab & Go Meals

Food for the Soul is a food provision mission for those in need of a meal. Asbury UMC has partnered with Lakewood Baptist Church in Warwick to provide "grab and go" meals once a month. Pick up date is June 18 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Lakewood Baptist Church 255 Atlantic Avenue, right on a bus line. Come as you are, leave feeling loved and cared about.


West Warwick AARP Chapter

West Warwick AARP Chapter is looking to expand its membership. Meetings are held at 1 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at St. Mary's Church Hall, 70 Church Street, West Warwick. All are welcome to come enjoy a cup of coffee and chat with new friends.

AARP Chapter 2210 has planned a Clambake at Captain Jack's and Foxwoods Casino trip for May 26. Celebration

St. Francis Xavier Academy Alumnae Association (SXA) announced its Homecoming celebration will be October 23, 2022, with an 11 a.m. mass at St. Timothy Church, Warwick, followed immediately by lunch at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick. Visiting Nurse Home and Hospice (VNH&H) is asking for individuals to support their hospice programs by giving $20 or more to their Hearts for Hospice campaign. Individuals wishing to donate must book an appointment at the donation center; walk-ins are only accepted if safe distancing allows at the person’s time of arrival. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island

BBBSRI has opened a new Donation Drop-Off Center at 993 Oaklawn Ave., in Cranston. BBBSRI’s main headquarters has been located on Pontiac Avenue for 12 years. With its headquarters moved from Providence this November, BBBSRI had to find a new location for its Cranston drop off center.


Walk and Talk at Rocky Point

Come join the “Rocky Point Pacers” for a walk around Rocky Point every Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 9 a.m., weather permitting. They meet at the gate on Rocky Point Avenue. Get some sunshine and burn off some holiday pounds.


Be Kind RI

Be Kind RI is a new program that connects volunteers to their neighbors across RI through text alerts to coordinate food deliveries from grocery stores and food pantries. To sign up go to www.BeKindRI.org. Volunteers must be 18 or older and undergo our background check. Be Kind RI is open to those in RI experiencing COVID-19 risk factors including seniors 65+, anyone with underlying health conditions, those in quarantine or isolation, anyone experiencing a lack of childcare, and those who would otherwise experience difficulty in obtaining food. Meals on Wheels in Need of Volunteers

Meals on Wheels of RI is in immediate need of volunteers for its Home-Delivered Meal Program in Warwick. Meals are delivered Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The program helps homebound seniors remain healthy, safe and happy at home. ESL classes at WPL

The Warwick Public Library and the RI Family Literacy Initiative host English as a Second Language (ESL) classes starting on Sept. 20. Practice your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in small groups. Citizenship Prep Classes at WPL

Prepare for the U.S. Naturalization Interview with Citizen Preparation classes at the Warwick Public Library. Get a Job Thursdays

We Make RI, an organization that provides free manufacturing training, is hosting a series of job fairs every Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at their offices at 200 First Ave. in Cranston. We Make RI offer job seekers a chance to meet with employers, get career counseling, resume help and more. Some employers include Swissline Precision, Admiral Packaging, KB Surfaces, Warwick Hanger and Hitachi Cable.
