Rhode Island is one of the last states in the USA that still has not fully deregulated their energy. In neighboring Connecticut there are many choices for electricity with a large savings to the consumer. Here, the choices are few and the savings are "mild."
You're right. There is a monopoly here in Rhode Island. I understand that National Grid/ Narragansett Electric donated A LOT of money to Lincoln Chaffee's gubernatorial campaign, but I'm sure that is just a coincidence.
