Dear Mr Corrente.

You said: " I believe that if we had a large amount of money (say $10,000,000), we'd find a cure for cancer by years end! " No kidding, I agree. We currently spend 4 billion per year on cancer research, but if you add to that the 5 billion we give to a very wealth country per year, that is 9 billion, and we will, as you say, have the cure for cancer.

The 5 billion that we will give away, by the way is every year for the next ten, so we are talking giving $50 billion away to a wealthy country t hat could be much better spent on finding a cure for cancer right here in our own country.

By the way to add insult to injury while giving 5 billion to a very wealthy country, we give 1.6 million to one of the poorest nations on earth, Haiti, who in addition to being poor lost over 200.000 lives two years again an an earthquake.

Perhaps while running for office you could make a campaign promise to take the 5 billion "give away money", and spend it on cancer research? Overwhelmingly Americans would support your idea, but it would be political suicide.
