Right wing talk radio demagogues associate this " war on Christmas " with some generic Left. As a democratic Socialist myself- and a Roman Catholic- I believe that separation of church and state is just a form of social sanity in a secular society. It protects religious people from the dangerous fanaticism of sects and bizarre cults. But it should not mean hostility and mean spirited contempt toward traditional religious displays -such as Christmas symbolism in public places. And I had no problem with that Prayer on the Wall--- a controversy sparked by militant atheists at Cranston High School West.

Oddly enough, these New Atheist types are often economic conservatives. Their Queen ,Ayn Rand, wrote " The Virtue of Selfishness " and she continues to inspire the Republican Party today.

So MERRY CHRISTMAS to all- even on the far right.
