Unfortunately, most whites in the 18th century believed that primitive tribal Africans were not their equals. In addition, most 18th century white men did not consider that white women were their equals. The Founding Fathers did create the best form of government in the in the 18th century. The Founding Fathers were not evil people because they did not create a perfect government. The majority of American citizens in the 19th century did not believe in slavery. If the American people were given the chance to vote on an amendment to the Constitution abolishing slavery in the 1850’s, I believe that it would have passed and avoided the Civil War.
