Dear Pamteiro,

Call me at 338-9900. I can tell you how much of a rubber stamp the PUC is for National Grid.

I got a bill from National Grid for exactly $100.00 for a residence I never lived at while I was faithfully paying for my home address AND my business address. Therefore the bill COULD NOT BE MINE!I asked them to produce a contract with my signature and they admitted that they didn't have one!

I appealed the bill, lost the appeal, and was sent to "collection". I then contacted the PUC, to protect me against this abuse. To my great disappointment, they sided with National Grid and sent me a letter that said since I received a bill from National Grid, I must have contracted their service. I paid the hundred dollars and considered it "education". The PUC lives under the thumb of National Grid.

I have since learned that Rhode Island has finally fully deregulated and we can now purchase electricity at much lower prices. The bill still comes from National Grid but the source of the electricity is where the savings are significant. I'm saving 22% on my office bill alone! There are several energy companies to choose from. I use XOOM Energy, (part of ACN) but you can call whoever you want. They are ALL less than "full-price". Just make sure that whoever you speak to is certified with the State of Rhode Island. All of the XOOM reps are.

Happy Summer pamteiro.

Happy Summer everyone.
