Dear readers,

Please notice that the School Committee (SC) is telling us that if cuts have to be made they will "have to be" at the expense of the children and the quality of education they receive. That is the very definition of the word "extortion".

The SC won't cut the huge salaries of the new SC hires like the "Assistant Principal of Teaching and Learning" or the "Assistant Principal of Climate and Culture". Those are 2 new and unnecessary positions created to increase the strength of the SC at the expense of our students education. Nor will they dip into their massive public relations budget, or the many (unneeded) cash reserves they have, which is clearly showing their priorities. If we keep going in this direction the quality of a Warwick education will plummet with the number of qualified teachers DECREASING at about the same rate as the number of SC administrators are INCREASING. The SC will have caused it but you can bet they will blame it on the City Council, or the teachers, or even the students themselves.

We should all commend Karen Bachus for being the only member to stand up for the students and vote against this. She is the only one who is putting the needs of our children FIRST.

As Mayor (see The Corrente Plan) I will refuse to give the SC a dime until we all know what they are spending $160 million dollars of taxpayers money on EVERY YEAR! (over a billion and a half since 2009!)

What we need is an independent audit from an unaffiliated third party auditing firm with all results published in The Beacon.

I have said that for over three years and today, the need is becoming critical.

Happy Valentines everyone.
