"Although some may criticize the belief that any modern day militia of commercially-available weapons could even muster a pitiful defense against Abrams tanks and airborne artillery controlled by a suddenly malevolent U.S. military, that philosophical stance remains a significant reason behind why some hang on so tightly to their firearms."

The idea that the US military would fire on their own citizens is simply absurd. We discussed this in the active Army. No way, no how. Did the insurgents in Iraq care that we had the best military in the world? Tanks and advanced aircraft? No. They are still fighting us with rifles and bombs in Afghanistan. Anyone who thinks 'the militia' in America could not stand up to the military is sadly uneducated. Does anyone actually read anymore? Washington was down to 1500 unpaid and poorly equipped troops. We beat the greatest military army and navy of the time. We were vastly outnumbered and out gunned. Does anyone remember Vietnam? Their losses were horrific but the N. Vietnamese fought the French and then the US for decades and eventually won, all without winning a battle. So don't tell me that an AR15 in my hands is useless. You've been schooled.
