I have lived in the Massasoit/Sand Pond neighborhood for almost 14 years. This is a FAMILY neighborhood of young and old. We take pride in our homes and this neighborhood. We feel comfortable letting our children play from home to home. We take kayaks out onto the pond to explore its beauty. We observe wildlife like blue herons, migrating snapping turtles, owls, hawks and nesting geese and swans. This industrial storage facility will negatively impact all surrounding neighborhoods, schools, Sand pond and its wildlife. Some local businesses within Pond Plaza will also be displaced. As Councilman Jeremy Rix noted there is a self storage unit in his ward, but in an industrial park area with no residences around it. Surely there are other industrial areas available for this facility. The idea of building this 3 story 24 hour storage facility at the beginning of this family neighborhood will undoubtedly pose a threat to all this neighborhood holds dear.
