The Wickford Junction Station was a boondoggle from the start. Located in an area that benefits very few.

If the money had been spent on building up the Kingston Station, the whole train situation in RI would be different. The Kingston Station is practically on the URI campus. It would give students a great alternative to driving or taking RIPTA. Plus, it would be attractive to more South County residents for commuting.

There are problems with the size of the station and parking, but that could have been solved. As it stands now, you get "free" parking and most days "free" fare out of Wickford. I say "free" because someone is paying for it and it is not the users of the system. It is all of the taxpayers who got swindled into building that white elephant.
