Cat, I honestly wonder what the city council members think they're accomplishing with all this talk of the past.

The city is facing severe fiscal issues, so blaming the current school committee (who are, as DannyHall82 says, not setting a good example of transparency) for what happened in the past does nothing about the current situation that the city is in.

I also don't see what Councilman Ladouceur's point is in "test driving" the council's job of releasing the bond funds that voters approved last year, except to say that he's not happy with the school committee. He didn't need to make some big statement at a meeting to express that.

Council President Merolla should remember that the administration and the members of the school committee have changed since 2006 -- but his being on the city council hasn't.

I hope he doesn't think his talk about what happened before will make people forget what is happening right now.
