Honestly, you can flip that argument right around about the city council and current/former administration. The city isn't in financial trouble only because of the school committee. That is just one of many departments that have been mismanaged over many years. If you feel that the school committee system should go, who should have the reins of that budget? None of them appear to have the ability to properly handle and manage the city budget.
