25 Hendricken seniors to walk runway in fashion benefit

Not even the threat of a blizzard can apparently stop the Bishop Hendricken High School “An Enchanted Evening.”

Co-chair of one of the most anticipated events on the school calendar, Lori Lepizzera said Monday they plan to go ahead with the fashion show as scheduled Thursday, March 16 at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet. Tickets are $50 per person and must be bought in advance; tickets will not be sold at the door. They can be bought at Hendricken.com or by contacting Caren Pacheco at caren@hendricken.com.

The show begins at 5 p.m. with cocktails and boutique shopping, dinner at 7, and the main event, the fashion show, beginning at 8:15. Stores that will be contributing to the boutique shopping include Pampered Chef, Art on the Skin, Athalia Originals of Newport, LuLa Roe, Just Because, Alexander Uniforms, Rodan & Fields and many more.

Lepizzera will be entering her seventh year of participation in the fashion show. The event draws in close to 700 women with all proceeds going directly to student scholarships. There will be 25 students from the class of 2017 wearing tuxedos from Carl Anthony Tuxedos and walking the runway. They will all have individual biographies that list extracurricular activities, what college they want to attend and what they intend to study in college.

Students are selected by Hendricken president John Jackson. They are given a chance to decide whether or not they are able to fit it into their schedule.  Five Hendricken teachers, including four of whom are alumni, will walk the runway: Michael Curran (Class of 2009), Christopher Sheehan (Class of 2009), Thomas Wynne (Class of 2010), Michael Monahan (Class of 1998) and Paul Danesi, who will all be wearing tuxedos from Banana Republic.

The show brings in a lot of money for the school, and Lepizzera is hopeful it brings in one of the best profits out of any of the fundraisers in the school, only behind their “For the Boys” fundraiser held in the spring.  She says that she hopes that the school can continue to uphold this tradition to boost the work of the school and its students.
