Gasoline prices in Rhode Island are down three cents this week, according to AAA Northeast.
AAA’s July 5 survey of prices in Rhode Island finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.27 per gallon. Rhode Island’s price is equal to the national average. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was 52 cents higher at $2.79.
“Prices have actually gone down since Memorial Day, reversing the traditional pattern of higher summertime prices,” said Lloyd Albert, Senior Vice President of Public and Government Affairs. “Last year, the prices jumped ten cents between the two holidays. Strong supplies and lower prices are contributing to record numbers of Americans traveling this summer.”
The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 21 cents, from a low of $2.15 to a high of $2.36.
