Joan L. (Fontaine) Trudell, 73, of Coventry, formerly of Warwick, passed away Sunday, June 5, at Kent Hospital. She was the beloved wife of William A. Trudell for 54 years.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Gladys M. (Crawford) Fontaine. Joan was employed as a CNA at the Eleanor Slater Hospital in Cranston for 19 years before retiring. She was a member of the Oakland Beach Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary. Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was known as “Gee” to her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She had an extremely caring and giving nature and she will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Fred Trudell and his wife, Laurie; three daughters, Mary Maron and husband, Paul; Sallie Brennan and husband, Brian and Carol Chevalier and husband, Andrew; brothers, Howard, James and Ken Fontaine; sisters, Barbara Lewis, Ruth Barker and Linda Piazza; grandchildren: Billy, Nicole, Paulie, Michael, Melanie and Michelle; and great-granddaughter, Abby. She was the sister of the late Robert and William Fontaine, Doris Dale and Eleanor Smith.

Her funeral service will be held Friday, June 10, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m.
