Ward 8 Councilman Joseph Gallucci, who was in the hospital with double pneumonia at the time of the inauguration on Jan. 3, took the oath of office in brief ceremonies Wednesday morning in the mayor’s office. Mayor Scott Avedisian administered the oath, observing that with the exception of eight years either Joe or his brother Ray have represented the ward since 1976. Joe has served in the post for a total of 16 years. “This will probably be my last time around,” he said to those gathered, including fellow council members Joseph Solomon and Ed Ladouceur. Other elected officials in attendance included House Representatives Joseph Solomon Jr. and Camille Vella Wilkinson. Avedisian questioned Joe’s declaration, observing he’s heard him say that before. Joe laughed. “All in all, it’s been a great ride and a pleasure,” he said. (Warwick Beacon photos)
