The Johnston Police Department scored another success Saturday, collecting 196 pounds of prescription drugs for disposal.
“This is a system that keeps working,” said Deputy Chief Daniel O. Parrillo, who headed last Saturday’s “Drug Take Back” program at the Johnston Senior Center. “This is important. It helps us get rid of drugs so they don’t get into the wrong hands.”
Once the event was complete, Parrillo took what had been collected to the DEA Regional Disposal Center in Massachusetts.
People can drop off expired and unwanted medications at the Medbox inside police headquarters at 1651 Atwood Ave. at any time.
