William R. Valletta

William R. Valletta, age 87, of Holiday Avenue, Warwick, died on Sunday, November 22, 2015, at Coventry Center. He was the beloved husband of Mary S. (Castriotta) Valletta for 62 years.

Born in Providence, a son of the late John and Carrie (Patalano) Valletta, he lived in Warwick for 50 years. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, and a 1977 Dean’s List graduate of Bryant College, now Bryant University. Mr. Valletta was employed at B.I.F. Industries in East Greenwich for 28 years, retiring as a supervisor. In retirement, he worked with Vendresca Brothers. Bill was a professional musician, and played at numerous events with his band “End Result.” A skilled woodworker, he enjoyed building dollhouses. He loved gardening and hockey, especially as a fan of the Providence and Boston Bruins. A communicant of St. Timothy Church, he served as a Eucharistic minister.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Karen M. Valletta of Warwick; a granddaughter, Rachel H. Valletta of Cincinatti, OH; a brother, Thomas J. Valletta of West Warwick, and a sister, Cynthia Valletta of Cranston. He was the father of the late William R. Valletta, Jr.; and the brother of the late John R. Valletta, Virginia Molloy, and Anna Simpson.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, November 28, at 9 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 4-7 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
