FEMA, SBA to address flood recovery funds Thursday

Posted

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will hold a town hall meeting Thursday April 11 from 5-7 p.m. in the Sawtooth Annex Building.

The main focus of the meeting will be on recovery from flooding in December and January. Flooding from December 17th through 19th saw the Pawtuxet River’s second-highest flood in its recorded history. January 9th through 13th saw the river again crest at higher than 15 feet. Both caused significant damage to homes and businesses within the river’s vicinity.

Both FEMA representatives and representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will be present to answer questions about recovery. The SBA will also explain to attendees how to apply for disaster loans for homeowners, renters, businesses and private nonprofits.

For those not able to attend the meeting, questions about disaster recovery and assistance can be answered by calling FEMA at 1-800-621-3362.
