The Benny’s located on West Shore Road in Warwick officially closed its doors for good on Saturday, Oct. 7, as the note posted on the door (to the left) informed its patrons.
Inside only scraps of product remained as shoppers took advantage of huge sales that were initiated when Benny’s informed its customers they would be ceasing operations last month.
The remaining store in Warwick on Warwick Avenue remains open, as do locations throughout the state. However it is becoming apparent the popular chain’s inventory will likely not make it to the end of the year (Warwick Beacon photos)

That picture is heartbreaking. I wish Ocean State Job Lot would buy the Benny's chain and rename all of the Benny's locations "Benny's Ocean State Job Lot" out of respect to this icon. For 60 years I visited this great R.I. institution.
I will miss it ...a lot.
