Shirley Marie (Robinson) Lawton, 89, of Warwick, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023. She was the loving wife of the late James Lawrence Lawton. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Edgar D. and Alice B. (Robishaw) Robinson.
Shirley was raised in Warwick and graduated from Aldrich High School in 1952. She worked for twenty years at the former United Supply in Warwick as a pricing and inventory clerk. Shirley was also a devoted homemaker who provided a loving home for her family. She was a communicant of St. Peter’s Parish in Warwick and St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Warwick. A woman of many talents, Shirley played the piano, was a member of the “Sweet Adelines” – Women’s Barber Shop Choir for thirty-five years and enjoyed sewing and gardening. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her beloved children, Janine L. DeLaire (Brian) of North Attleboro, MA, Sharon M. Hanrahan (Edward) of Barrington, and Alicia F. DiDonato (Vincent) of Warwick, her siblings, Virginia F. Corsa of Warwick, Lois G. Whitman of Coventry, Maureen G. McMahon of Warwick, DonnaLee M. Charette of West Warwick, Denise L. Wade of Panama City, FL, Claudia J. Robinson of West Warwick, and Carol A. Robinson of West Warwick, five grandchildren, Justin DeLaire, Nichole Morasse, Christie Staudt, Corey DiDonato, and Jessie Pezzillo, and six great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Case, Kyle, Autumn, Nora, and Lincoln.
She was the sister of the late Jacquelyn Spencer and Marilyn Russo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 11:00AM at St. Peter’s Church, 350 Fair St, Warwick, RI 02888. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass from 8:00AM-10:00AM at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick. Interment will be private.
