Normand A. Levasseur, 79, of Warwick, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2023, with his loving family by his side. He was the loving husband of Janet “Jan” (Rendine) Levasseur; they had been married for 42 years. Born in Biddeford, Maine, he was the son of the late Alfred and Yvonne (Morin) Levasseur.
Besides his wife and sister, Normand is survived by his children, Anthony Pennacchia, Michael J. Pennacchia, and his wife Susan, Deborah Pennacchia, David R. Penn, Michael A. Levasseur, and his wife Leslee. He is also survived by his sister Rita (Levasseur) Steele and her husband James. He was predeceased by his late sister, Yvette Levasseur. He is also survived by many grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, his niece Katherine Pennacchia, many cousins, extended family, and friends.
He was a devout Catholic, studied his faith, and was a Brother of the Sacred Heart.
He was a graduate of St. Michael’s College in Vermont. Early in his career, he served as a math teacher and was a hockey player. After serving as a manager for Kinney Shoe Corporation for many years, he served as an independent insurance broker for nearly 40 years.
He was a devoted New England sports fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, and the New England Revolution soccer team. He was a Boston Strong superfan.
He served as a Eucharistic minister and lector at St. Timothy’s Church, Warwick. He was a lifelong community volunteer and loved serving and helping people with a focus on supporting people in need. In his leisure time, he loved spending his winters in Port St. Lucie, Florida and enjoyed playing various sports.
He was a great man with a huge heart, hug, and smile for everyone he met. A great conversationalist, he had an outgoing personality and a natural love and affection for others.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, from 4 to 7 p.m. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 8:30 a.m. from the Barrett and Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Ave, Spring Green, Warwick, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Timothy’s Church, 1799 Warwick Ave., Warwick. The burial will be in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown.
