It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Leann Pickering, a beloved wife, sister, and volunteer, passed away peacefully at her home in Warwick, Rhode Island on March 25, 2024. Born in Rochester, New Hampshire on July 11, 1952, daughter of the late Verne and Mary Fowler. Leann was known for her adventurous spirit and passion for helping others.

Leann's love for sailing took her to ports across the globe, where she navigated the open waters with grace and skill with her husband David. With an associate degree in computer technology, she used her expertise as a computer programmer in the North Kingstown school department and the healthcare industry, teaching others about EPIC medical record management software at the Providence Center and with Lifespan.

Leann was a remarkable woman, known for her strength, kindness, and selflessness. She opened her heart dedicating herself to serving as the Rhode Island Representative for Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue of Hudson, MA, helping countless furry friends find their forever homes. She and her husband were also proud members of the West Bay and the East Greenwich Yacht Clubs for many years, where she fostered genuine connections and enjoyed the beauty of the sea.

Leann is survived by her loving husband, Capt. David Pickering, stepson David D., grandson Robin as well as her cherished brothers Richard, Dennis, and Philip Fowler, her dear sister, Virginia Fowler and 29 nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather for visiting hours to celebrate Leann's remarkable life at the Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 E. Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, RI on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be private for the family. Interment will be in Rochester, NH.
