BREAKING AND ENTERING

On Aug. 13 at approximately 1:58 p.m. Officer Kyle Fitzsimmons responded to a residence on Church Ave. for the report of a burglary.

The victim said that sometime between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. the day before his son was mowing the grass and the garage attached to his house was left open. During that time, he said, a backpack blower, valued at $400, was missing.

The victim wished to press charges if a suspect was found. The officer did not find any neighbor witnesses. The backpack blower was entered into the system as stolen.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

On Aug. 12 at approximately 1:31 p.m. Officer Erin Cahalan responded to a residence on Namquid Dr. for a report of malicious damage to a car. The victim said that her passenger side mirror on her car had been ripped off sometime overnight. There was no evidence or suspects at the time.

LARCENY

On Aug. 10 at approximately 9:08 a.m. Officer Kyle Fitzsimmons responded to the Radisson Hotel on Post Rd. for a follow-up investigation on a man who had a warrant for his arrest.

Hotel management led the officer, among other detectives and officers, up to the room that the guest in question was staying in. The hotel wished to have him and the other inhabitants of the room removed from the hotel.

When they got upstairs, they found the subject, later identified as Mickey Michael, 45, of 606 Chalkstone Ave. Apt. #1 in Providence, who was in the hallway with a television under his arm. When they called after him, Michael began running down the stairs and all the way down to the first floor.

Officer Fitzsimmons chased after him and eventually took him into custody on the first floor. Michael was immediately searched and found to have two baggies of methamphetamines, later found to be about 2 grams and valued at $200, and a pipe in his pockets.

A search of Michael’s room revealed a variety of other items that were later confirmed to be stolen. This included the television he dropped, valued at $750, a mobile scanner valued at $300, a computer valued at $500, and a digital camera.

The television was stolen from another room in the hotel. The subject had also stolen an iPhone from the front desk and other items, including the desktop computer, from the Sheraton hotel where they had stayed previously.

Michael was placed into custody and transported to police headquarters. Another participant, Jeffrey Aubin, 40, of 5 Hospital ST. in East Providence, was also taken into custody. Both were later transported to 3rd district court after being held.

Michael was charged with Possession of Schedule I, II, III, IV, V, which is a felony charge, as well as Receiving Stolen Goods, Larceny Under $1,500, Obstructing an Officer in Execution of Duty, and Malicious Injury to Property.

On Aug. 14 at approximately 3:25 p.m. Officer Michael Bailey responded to a building on Jefferson Blvd. where a reporting party said someone took eight black pipes from her place of work.

She said that a male with white hair in his late thirties or early forties was taking the black pipes from outside the building and putting them into his car. When she asked him what he was doing from a window upstairs, he said that someone named Dave told him he could take some of the items, but there was no Dave who worked there.

By the time she went outside, he had driven away. She did not get a license plate for the vehicle because it did not have a front plate and she never saw the back plate.

The owner of the building said had had also had items stolen a few days prior and he doesn’t have any cameras on his property.

He said the value of the pipes stolen was approximately $1,000 and he would like the press charges. The case was forwarded to detectives.

On Aug. 14 at approximately 3:55 p.m. Officer Thomas Paine met with a larceny victim who had come into the police station.

The woman said that the hub caps on her Toyota Sienna were stolen sometime during the night of Aug. 12 and morning of Aug. 13 from her residence on Winter Ave. She was not aware of any suspects and did not have any security cameras at her home.

The hub caps were valued at $200. The case was forwarded to detectives.

SHOPLIFTING

On Aug. 15 at approximately 3:22 p.m. Officer Michael Bailey responded to the Walmart on Bald Hill Rd. for the report of a shoplifting in progress. The shoplifting suspect, later identified as Scott Denny, 27, of 140 Valley St. Apt. #2 in Woonsocket, was in custody with loss prevention.

The loss prevention associate said she saw Denny take a jumper cable from the auto department and a blanket from another aisle, which he opened by cutting its package with a knife. He then passed all point of purchase without paying, where he was apprehended and came in without incident.

The total value of the merchandise was $48.88. Denny was taken to police headquarters, where he was charged with Shoplifting – Misdemeanor and Habitual Offender – Shoplifting. He was then held as a probation violator.
