RI inauguration ceremony set Jan. 1 at noon

Posted

The Rhode Island Inauguration Ceremony will be held on January 1 at 12 noon on the south portico of the State House.

Governor Raimondo and the general officers will host a greeting line in the State Room following the scheduled events on January 1. In the event of inclement weather, the alternate location is the Rhode Island Convention Center, 1 Sabin St., Providence. Weather conditions will be assessed on December 31 and a press release will be issued if and only if the ceremony is moved from the State House location.

There will be additional celebratory events on Saturday, January 5. From 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., the general officers will invite the public to a special State House open house. Members of the public are invited to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the Rhode Island Food Bank. Following the open house, there will be free ice skating at the Alex and Ani Center in Providence. At 7:30 p.m. on January 5, the State House will host an invite-only Inaugural Gala to benefit the Rhode Island Food Bank.
