Rita Mae Andersen, 86, a resident of Oakland Beach for over thirty years, passed away Monday, May 29, 2017. She was the loving wife of the late Walter C. Andersen.
She was the daughter of the late James G. and Anna J. (Spaulding) Elliott. Rita worked as a switchboard operator for many years before retiring.
Rita was the loving mother of Raymond Gardiner and his wife, Dolores, and Rhonda Hodges and her companion, David Crisp; devoted grandmother of Shane K. Hodges, Derek A. Hodges, Bryan Gardiner, Christie L. Gardiner, and Matthew A. Gardiner; great-grandmother of Saige Hodges; sister of Helen Garvey, Joan Rossi, and the late Barbara Sarka, Shirley Swanson, James Elliott, and Joseph Elliott. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Monday, June 5, 2017 from 9-11 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick. Burial will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
