The Toll Gate softball team picked up its first win of the season when it shut out Woonsocket, 1-0. Addison Eddy led Toll Gate with two hits and Amanda Preston scored the game’s lone run.

Roundup: Toll Gate softball gets first win

The Toll Gate softball team picked up its first win of the season when it shut out Woonsocket, 1-0. Addison Eddy led Toll Gate with two hits and Amanda Preston scored the game’s lone run.

Delaney Wilson was dominant in the circle for Toll Gate, pitching a complete game and allowing just two hits while striking out 13 batters.


North Kingstown 2, Pilgrim 1

The Skippers would get a walk-off win to clip the Pats in a Division I showdown. Skylar Hawes led Pilgrim with two hits while Kaelyn Shea drove in the team’s lone run.

Gretchen Dombeck pitched 6 1/3 innings in the circle for Pilgrim, allowing two runs and striking out five batters.


BASEBALL

Hendricken 4, South Kingstown 1

The Hawks moved into first place in Division I when they picked up a big road win over the Rebels on Tuesday.

Ryan Thompson drove in a pair of runs while Griffin Crain pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed one run while striking out five batters.


Portsmouth 4, Pilgrim 3

Portsmouth held on to top the Pats on Tuesday. Henry Kearns led Pilgrim with an RBI double, while Derek Asciolla picked up two hits and scored a run as well.

Nolan Canestrari pitched 5 2/3 innings for Pilgrim and allowed just one run while recording six strikeouts.


GIRLS LACROSSE

Toll Gate 14, Middletown 9

Adeline Areson and Delanie Wheeler each scored five goals to help the Titans get a big DII win. Mary McNulty finished with six saves in the cage.
