The ice was gone, but the Thayer skating rink saw plenty of action Saturday and Sunday as the Rhode Island Kennel Club that was founded in 1886 staged its show and trials. According to Vivian Marchetti of the club 395 dogs were registered to complete in the events that included the showing of about 80 breeds and obedience trials. Competitors came from across the country to participate in the show.
