The Warwick Area Career and Technical Center will host the state Skills USA cosmetology, nail care and esthetics competition this Friday. During the esthetics portion of the event, students transform the face of a fellow student based on the theme of methodology. Here, Gianna Travis, president of the Skills USA chapter at the center, and Dayana Darosa, a state Skills USA officer, practice for the cosmetology portion of the competition. Winners of the state competition are eligible to compete in the nationals to be held in June in Tennessee. Industry representatives will serve as judges in the competition involving about 50 students from seven districts across the state. (Warwick Beacon photo)
